Interactive tactile maps — an innovative product in Latvia offered by SOCINTEGRA.
These maps combine a computer, a touchscreen monitor, and a transparent tactile overlay, allowing users to access both visual and tactile information at the same time. For example, the interactive map of Riga displays 170 streets and objects: streets are marked with dotted lines, the railway with a solid line, and objects with circles.
A blind user, by exploring the map and double-clicking on any street, hears its name. This technology can be adapted not only for city maps but also for other purposes, such as interpreting artworks, paintings, or exhibition content.
