About us

The name Socintegra represents both the NGO “Socintegra” and the social enterprise “Socintegra darbnīca”. Our main mission is to promote the full inclusion of people with visual impairments into society and to ensure environmental accessibility for everyone.

In Latvia, there are approximately 12,000 people with various visual impairments, and our goal is to foster an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment where they can develop their abilities, cultivate their talents, and actively participate in community life.

We implement a wide range of projects and initiatives aimed at providing practical support, promoting social integration, and ensuring equal opportunities in education, employment, and public participation. We pay particular attention to creating innovative accessibility solutions and adapting environments to encourage independent and active living for people with visual impairments.

Since 2011, Socintegra has held the status of a public benefit organization, a recognition of the importance of our work and its contribution to the overall well-being of society.

The social enterprise “Socintegra darbnīca” offers a broad spectrum of accessibility services for both the private and public sectors — designing and installing tactile maps, signage, and other orientation aids, as well as preparing professional audio descriptions for museums, theatre performances, and more. These services make public spaces more accessible for people with visual impairments.

Our clients and partners include Monum, Newcom Construction, Balvi Municipality, Bauska Municipality, Ogre Municipality, Ādaži Municipality, Baltic Construction Company, LC būve, Torensberg, Skonto būve, Selva būve, and many others.

We are especially proud of our projects such as tactile maps at Riga Bus Station, tactile paintings at the Latvian National Museum of Art, audio descriptions at the Riga Puppet Theatre, tactile maps and signage at the Latvian-American Eye Center, tactile maps for the Latvian Youth Song and Dance Festival, tactile maps at the “Origo” shopping center, and many other completed and ongoing projects.
